2015 NEWS

July 2015

On the 6th July our annual changeover took place at the home of June Chaplin when retiring President Cheryl Browne handed over the chain of office to Margaret McMorran once again.

Margaret had only one year's respite before taking on the President's office once more.

The event was a very happy one, each Member bringing fantastic food and a good time was had by all.
June 2015

On the 13th June our Overseas organiser, Marian Atkins held an afternoon garden party at her home with tombola and various stalls and a great buffet, raising a good sum to swell the Charity Fund.

Unfortunately the weather was not good enough to be outside so we had to look out a picture from a previous year to compensate. I think it gives us great ideas for future events -  to dress as in years gone by.

May 2015

On the 11th May our speaker for the evening was Judy Colby of the Midland Players who travelled all the way from Sheffield to speak to us and show the amazing costumes she made.  These included ladies corsets, gents spats and were all made from material obtained from her visits to Charity Shops.

All were beautifully made and in the style showing the correct period for whichever play the Midland Players were giving.  It was such an interesting evening and when she came to pack everything away, we never thought she would get it all into her car, but obviously practice makes perfect and she then travelled home to Sheffield. What an amazing lady.

March 2015

On the 9th March it was our Charter Day which this year was a luncheon held at the Erewash Valley Golf Club. The speaker was David Down telling of his experience as a
contestant on Mastermind.  The photo showing the cutting of the Cake is our Past President Margaret and of course our District Chair person Rachel. Unfortunately our President Cheryl could not be with us on the day.

January 2015

On the 6th January we once again celebrated International Inner Wheel Day by providing a buffet meal at Happivale.

They keep their Christmas Decorations until we have been - so Father Christmas was waiting to welcome us in when we arrived - as shown in the attached photo.

We provided the usual food, making it a very happy evening.  All our Members contribute to the evening  and twelve helpers were there on the night together with four of their husbands.
