December 2016

On the 5th December it was the annual Christmas dinner at the Trent Lock pub down by the river and Erewash canal.

November 2016

On the 12th November it was our Charity Flower Demonstration with Marion Stokes - at Sawley Community Centre.  The proceeds are for our Main Charity this year being Tree Tops Hospice.

Marion as usual gave us a fantastic demonstration and at the end of the afternoon there were eleven arrangement to be raffled off, opposite see two of them.

Jean Bianchi was running the tombola stall in her usual efficient way and Tree Tops had their own Christmas Stall with christmas cards, wrapping papers etc. to purchase.

Tea and Coffee was provided in the cost of the ticket and our Members ran this and our very newest Members were I saw busily working in the kitchen

Opposite is the Christmas decoration picture and this Marion had worked as three separate ones which could be raffled off.

Thanks for the work everyone put in to make it such a success and also to everyone who came to watch.

November 2016

On the 7th November, at our Monthly Meeting, which we held at Bennets Hotel in Long Eaton we had the pleasure of welcoming District Chairman Di and her companion from the Swadlincote Club.

We were also very pleased to be welcoming three new Members to our Club,  Pam Earlam is the daughter of our late member, Ruth Arnott, who was well known in the Inner Wheel District.  Jackie Marshall and Christine Shelbourne make up our trio of new members.

October 2016

On the 3rd October at our Monthly Meeting our Speaker for the evening was our President's daughter Staff Sergeant Haley Bowman. Her talk on the life in her two stays in Afghanistan working as a nurse and the dangerous condition they worked in was an eye opener to our Members.   She is at the moment working in England at a Burns Unit.

The photo is a family affair with President Alison, Hayley and  Grand-mother Jean and either side two Members of our Club, Margaret Parkin and Barbara Keeling.

August 2016

On the 20th August.Our President Alison, opened her home to an afternoon tea to Members and friends and a friendly and enjoyable afternoon was had.

 The proceeds from the tombola, run by Alison's Mother Jean were set aside for Alison's main charity this year which is Treetops Hospice

July 2016

On the 4th July it was the Change-over Meeting at the home of the retiring President, Margaret McMorran.

February 2016

On the 19th February Marion Atkins held a Cheese and Wine party at  her home for Members, husbands and friends to swell the Funds for the Overseas Charities.

It was a really enjoyable evening and Ann Thomas and I caught up with all the news from Rotarian Bert Wild who joined us on the evening.

January 2016

On the 8th January it was the annual visit to Happyvale to celebrate Inter National Inner Wheel Day and as usual we had a very happy evening with everyone.

This picture wasn't taken by me, but by one of the young men who attend the Happivale evening and he is a fantastic photographer.

The next one is of some of the Members who have a really enjoyable evening, they dance have fun with each other and sometimes do not manage to eat all the buffet we put on. They had a fantastic disco and it really is a treat for us all to go there on that day and be with them.
